As computers become increasingly powerful and important, your brain is more important than ever. Most simple jobs will get taken over by machines in the near future. The following tips will help keep your brain in pristine condition while also keeping you happy.
  1. Excercise - Exercising is responsible for releasing many different kinds of hormones, which make you happier and more pleasant to be around. It also grows more brain cells in the hippocampus, which is the part of the brain that stores information. Lastly, exercising causes more blood to be pumped to the brain.
  2. Meditation - Meditation has been shown by multiple studies to improve focus, a critical skill in almost all aspects of daily life. In second grade, my teacher told my parents that I needed ADHD medication. Now, after meditation, I can focus well for long periods of time. Studies also show that people who meditate have fewer cells in their amygdala. This is a good thing because the amygdala is responsible for fear and stress.
  3. Sleep - Sleep is one of the most important ways to keep your brain healthy, yet many Americans do not get nearly as much as they need. A good way to help yourself sleep is to use yoga nidra for sleep. When you sleep, your brain puts things into memory and removes all of the junk. Another benefit is that this increases your awareness, helping you not crash your car.
  4. Keep learning -  This one is simple: If you keep learning you won't forget things and your brain will be more powerful. It is never too late to learn.
